Jiggery-Pokery

in homage to Antonin Scalia

Much of life is up for interpretation
what in one era would be found
to be wrong or insufficient, in another
would be found to be common sense.

Words do have meaning but they too,
over time, are up for interpretation.
The common thread that holds them
together is intent. For good or ill
intent rules the day.

Your words dance, sir. We
understand you to have the skill
of mind. But sir, where is your
skill of heart? Have you none?
Is the cupboard bare?

To you the world is only filled
with jiggery pokery and nothing else.
